Cannabis Vape Pens As A Possible Alternative to Prescription Medication
The stigma around cannabis is beginning to fade. As a result, the medical world is putting more focus on the potential uses and benefits of the plant.
The FDA is currently exploring cannabis and CBD-based products. Although they seem to have been slow to release approvals for medical use, this is largely because they are still studying long-term effects of extended use.
In the meantime, scientists aren’t waiting around for approvals they expect to come over the next few years. They are studying the use of cannabis and vaporizers in medicine and seeing positive results. Vape pens are already impacting the medical world and they are a smart bet for the future of medical cannabis use.
Marijuana As An Alternative To Prescription Medication
Taylor Francis & Group recently released a study addressing how marijuana may be able to reduce our dependence on prescription pills for pain and insomnia. The study found positive results in people being able to reduce or stop their use of prescription meds by using legal marijuana.
Cannabis as a Sleep-Aid
Sleep deprivation and insomnia are at an all-time high and it can have a significant impact on your health. About 1 in 3 Americans gets less than 6 hours of sleep per night.
While sleeping pills can provide temporary aid, they can become addictive, have a number of side-effects, and leave people feeling groggy in the morning. It’s a clear cut case of, “there has got to be a better way.”
The TFG study suggests that marijuana vape pens could be a solution. In the study, 84% of people using cannabis as a sleep aid found that it helped. And 83% were able to stop or reduce their use of sleep aids. This held true for both over-the-counter and prescription sleep pills.
For further sleep aid, some people are combining cannabis oils and aromatherapy. Vaping cannabis and CBD oil is growing in both the wellness and modern medical worlds.
Reducing or Replacing Painkiller Use
Prescription painkillers are at the heart of the ongoing opioid problem. Already, research has suggested that cannabis vape pens could help alleviate the opioid crisis. The TFG study provides some insights as to how people are seeing the benefits of using cannabis for pain.
The results of the study show a promising future for cannabis as a potential alternative to opioids. While 82% of people using cannabis for pain were able to reduce or stop their use of over-the-counter painkillers, a whopping 88% were able to stop taking opioid painkillers.
Advantages of Vaping for Medical Use
Marijuana vape pens are an ideal delivery system for this cannabis use. This is especially true for pain. Vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking, and inhaling the product provides faster relief than taking edibles or pills.
Cannabis oil vape pens also provide much better dosage control. Oil vapes offer precision control over the length of the draw and the temperature of the pen. As a result, the dosage is consistent. Taking edibles, pills, or smoking marijuana cannot offer the same consistency.
