What is the Best Vape Pen Battery?
What to Look for in Vape Pen Batteries
The best vape pen experience starts with the right components. The battery is the beating heart of a vaporizer. It provides the charge that transforms cannabis oil into full-flavored vapor.
Whether you’re shopping vaporizers for retail sale or for personal use, having the best vape pen battery is critical to creating a better, reliable vape experience.
Our team is dedicated to innovative vape technology. Our Greentank Ceramic Core Technology provides a consistent, full flavor with no burnt taste, puff after puff. So when we chose our batteries, we needed to find one that matched the quality and reliability of our vape technology.
To choose the absolute best vape pen battery, we put our focus on the following parameters:

Battery Capacity (Battery Life)
Portability is one of the advantages of vape pens. Users can take their vaporizers with them just about anywhere. But for that portability to matter, the battery needs to last. As well, a strong battery capacity ensures that each draw is consistent.
Battery capacity is measured in milliamp Hours (mAh). Essentially, the mAh is the battery’s electric power over time. The higher the mAh, the longer the battery life.
At Greentank, our main line of vapes use batteries with greater mAh than any of our competitors, up to 400 mAh. That way we can ensure our vape pen batteries outlast and outperform the competition. The GT Torrch dab rig has an mAh rating of 1500-200, making it the best vape pen for dabbing on the market.
Charge Up Time
How long a battery takes to charge makes a big difference to its usability. The longest lasting battery doesn’t help anyone if it takes all day to charge. A good vape pen battery needs to strike a balance in how long a battery can keep a charge and how long it takes to achieve that charge.
Rechargeable batteries aren’t able to recharge indefinitely. For vape pens intended for any long-term use, you need batteries that can handle multiple charging cycles. That’s why we have batteries that can handle as high as 300 charging cycles.
Size
The size of a battery affects its capabilities. Although the technology has come a long way, it still holds true that, using equal technology, a larger battery can provide more power and has greater capacity.
For a small, discreet vape pen, you’ll need to have a smaller battery size. There are some benefits to this, however, as the smaller battery charges faster and is generally used with a vape pen that requires a lower power output.
Safety
Vape pen batteries are designed to work at specific power inputs and outputs. For instance, our batteries have max inputs of either 4.2 Volts or 5 Volts. When these limits are exceeded, batteries can overheat and fail. To avoid this, the best vape pen batteries put in safety features.
Where necessary, we include a shutdown voltage that restricts the battery from going beyond a preset output. This avoids overheating so the battery maintains its lifespan longer and does not damage itself or the vape pen.
Battery Type
The battery type makes a big difference. Right now, for all your handheld electronics – smartphones, laptops, tablets, and vape pens – Lithium-ion (Li-ion) is king. Li-ion batteries are low maintenance and offer high energy density.
The high energy density allows for longer use between charges without sacrificing power. We use Lithium-ion batteries for all our vape pens.
Tube Material
All of our battery tubes are made with SUS 304. This is a stainless steel that is durable and corrosion-resistant to protect the battery. As well, it’s an easy-to-clean material that helps prevent contaminants.
Threading
For vape pens, 510 threading is the industry standard. The name comes from its design; each thread is 0.5mm, and there are 10 of them. We use 510 thread batteries to ensure that all components work together consistently.
Matching the Battery to the Vape Pen
We offer a variety of different vape products for different purposes. There is no one-size-fits-all battery that matches the ideal performance for each pen. Instead, we select the best battery for each vape pen type, weighing the different benefits to the purpose and use of the product.
Here, we take a look at three of our vape pen batteries and how they match up with different vaporizers.
GT Surge Push
The GT Push is our biggest and most powerful vape pen battery. It’s 11.2×86.4mm and has a 400 mAh battery capacity (strongest on the market!). It has a resistance tolerance range of 0.4-3.5 ohm, making it suitable for regular or sub-ohm vaping.
This battery is capable of offering high-end flavor from premium oils in products like the GT CR vaporizer. The high mAh makes it a good option when using thicker distillate or CO2 extracts.
GT Surge Draw
The GT Surge Draw is built for using a reusing. It fully charges in ~80 minutes and works for 200-230 puffs. You can charge it over and over for up to 300 cycles without losing battery power.
The GT Surge Draw holds its charge longer than a standard vape pen battery. It’s breath actuated and has plenty of power with a 350 mAh battery.
GT Surge Mini
The GT Surge Mini is the perfect fit for smaller, more discreet vaporizers like the GT CR, GT CR Resin, and GT DX. Though small in size, the GT Surge Mini has plenty of power. With 100mAh and a tolerance range of 1.2-3.2ohm, it’s everything you need in a vape pen you can take anywhere.
This battery is made especially useful with its USB charging capability. That means anywhere you can charge your phone, you can charge your vape.
