Greentank Welcomes Chris Gemmell as Chief Product & Innovation Officer

We’re excited to announce the newest addition to Greentank Technologies’ executive team: Chris Gemmell, who joins us as Chief Product & Innovation Officer (CPIO).

Chris brings over 25 years of deep expertise in product development, innovation, supply chain, and leadership across the global consumer goods and nicotine industries. His arrival marks a significant milestone in Greentank’s journey as we continue to pioneer the future of clean, high-performance aerosolization technologies.

A Proven Leader in Product Innovation

Chris began his career at Kellogg’s, where he spent 16 years honing his skills in technical disciplines focused on category and emerging market expansion within the fast-moving consumer goods sector. He later joined British American Tobacco (BAT), where he played a critical role in innovation transformation across the reduced-risk product portfolio (vapor, heated tobacco and oral nicotine categories).

During his time at BAT, he led end-to-end operations and served on the executive leadership teams of Southern Europe, Mexico & Central American, and Imperial Tobacco Canada. Following this Chris joined BAT’s U.S. subsidiary (Reynolds), where took the helm of vapor oversight during the rapid expansion of the category and was subsequently appointed as President, American Snuff Company (oral division) as the company entered the nicotine pouch business.

Chris later took on global responsibilities at BAT, first leading the innovation transformation and later product development and pipeline across all reduced-risk product categories. His leadership has helped shape some of the industry’s most recognized advancements in nicotine delivery, setting new standards in both product efficacy and consumer experience.

Prior to joining Greentank, Chris led an advisory firm focused on product development and commercialization strategies, working with clients across multiple sectors. He continues to serve on several boards within and outside the industry, adding further breadth to his perspective on strategic growth and innovation.

In his role as CPIO, Chris will lead Greentank’s Product, R&D, and Innovation teams, focusing on four core areas:

1. Strengthening Product Innovation – Championing groundbreaking ideas and turning them into scalable, market-ready products that drive a step-change in harm reduction and adult consumer satisfaction while exceeding expectations in performance, safety, and user satisfaction. 
2. Enhancing Product Realization Capabilities – Optimizing the pathway from concept to commercialization, ensuring rapid development cycles, manufacturing excellence, and quality at scale. 
3. Improving Speed-to-Market – Shortening innovation timelines to help our partners bring category-defining products to consumers faster than ever. 
4. Expanding Global Commercialization – Scaling our innovation on an international level to meet the growing demand for cleaner, high-performance vaporization technologies worldwide, building strategic partnerships, entering emerging markets, and aligning with global regulatory standards to accelerate adoption across multiple industries.
